Special Exhibition Tour Led by the Museum Curators

On September 25 from 12:00-1:00pm, join Maryanna G. Ramirez and Ryan Hardesty at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU for special insight into curatorial decisions behind the exhibitions Color Outside the Lines and Anish Kapoor: Dissolving Margins, both From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation.

About

Maryanna G. Ramirez, Director of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at Portland State University, curated Color Outside the Lines From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation, which debuted in Portland, OR in 2024. The exhibition examines the ways artists have used color to question institutions, beliefs, and expectations. Some of the artists celebrate and amplify colors intrinsic to their cultures, showcasing beauty once dismissed or rendered invisible. Others employ color to confront stereotypes and subvert expectations, or as a tool to challenge institutions or to assert control.

Ryan Hardesty, Director of the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU, curated Anish Kapoor: Dissolving Margins From the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation, debuting this fall at the WSU Schnitzer Museum. The exhibition offers a bold and extensive survey of the four-decade-long printmaking practice by an artist internationally renowned for his beguiling experiments with form across mediums and materials.
