Curator’s Choice: Making Faces, Here’s Looking at You, Keith

May 16, 2013 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Museum of Art/WSU is proud to share the portrait paintings of the permanent collection in the upcoming exhibition Curator’s Choice: Making Faces, Here’s Looking at You, Keith! May 16-July 19, 2013. Admission to the museum is always free.

Our summer exhibition highlights a number of portraits from the permanent collection curated by the late Keith Wells.

Since 2004, Wells conducted his “dream job,” putting together numerous exciting and ground-breaking exhibitions. His final exhibition literally creates a portrait of the permanent collection whose origins began in the 1920s and 30s President E.O. Holland commissioned Worth D. Griffin, WSU artist and professor, to create portraits of Native American leaders and pioneers. These works became the very first acquisitions and helped establish the Museum of Art/WSU. Since then the collection has grown immensely.

From paintings of University dignitaries to screen prints of Marilyn Monroe, the collection is a significant part of our artistic legacy.

Located on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium in the Fine Arts Center on the WSU Pullman campus. Summer hours: Tues – Fri, 12:00 – 4 p.m., closed Sat – Mon. For more information call (509) 335-1910.
