Email annamshannon@wsu.edu to register. \n \nDETAILS  |  Thursday\, October 15\, 6pm-9pm\, MOA Gallery and Fine Arts Printmaking studio\nABOUT THE WORKSHOP  |  Workshop participants will learn to use select printmaking processes that artist Jim Dine employs in his own prints. Each participant will be able to create their own drawing\, and print several impressions to take with them. Participants may bring personal printouts and photocopies of images they might like to use. No printmaking or previous art-making experience is needed and all materials will be provided. He focuses on the sprawling commercial developments found just off highways\, the construction cranes and glass condos transforming city skylines\, and the clutter and detritus found throughout the urban landscape. Since 1995 his work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions across the US and in Canada. He has been included in exhibits at Davidson Galleries in Seattle\, the Tacoma Art Museum\, the Jundt Museum in Spokane and Deluge Contemporary Art in Victoria\, BC. He is a recipient of the Artist Trust Fellowship and the Seattle Print Arts: Larry Sommers Fellowship\, and was an artist in residence at the Frans Masereel Center in Belgium in 2010 and 2012. He currently resides between Toronto and Washington State where he has taught courses in printmaking\, book arts and design at Washington State University since 2000. \nNOTES  |\n• Registration required\, maximum 12 individuals for ease of instruction and use of the printmaking studio.\n• Must be over 18 years of age to register.\n• Workshop based on approachable Dine techniques for those who have had little or no experience print-making: Plexiglas drypoint offers a relatively quick and inexpensive introduction to an intaglio process with immediate results.

SUMMARY:FILM NIGHT/RECEPTION: Two Jim Dine films at the CUB Auditorium\, reception at WSU Museum
DESCRIPTION:Join the Museum of Art/WSU and WSU’s Student Entertainment Board to screen two award-winning documentary films on the artist Jim Dine. Begin your evening in the CUB Auditorium viewing Jim Dine: A Self Portrait on the Walls (1995) and All about Looking (1996)\, then transition to the MOA gallery to enjoy the exhibition Jim Dine: A Life in Printmaking. Light refreshments provided. \nDETAILS  | Thursday\, October 22\, CUB Auditorium\, 6-7pm film screenings\, 7-8pm reception in MOA Gallery with light refreshments. \nJIM DINE: A SELF PORTRAIT ON THE WALLS  |  1995  |  28 minutes. Nominated for Academy Award for Best Documentary Short. This remarkable documentary records eight days of intense work and quiet rumination as internationally renowned artist Jim Dine produces an exhibition of huge\, bold charcoal drawings directly on the walls of the Ludwigsburg Kunstverein near Stuttgart\, Germany. It is an unusual and transitory exhibition in that the drawings remain on the walls for only six weeks before being painted over. \nALL ABOUT LOOKING  |  1996  |  29 minutes  |  Renowned American artist Jim Dine teaches drawing at the famed Internationale Sommerakademie fur Bildene Kunst in Salzburg\, Austria. The method is rigorous: Models maintain one pose per week; students keep their easels in the same place and each day make a complete\, well-observed drawing; then every morning the students have to erase their work and start again.
