DESCRIPTION:Join the museum for a Community Perspectives Tour with Ariana Maki\nFriday\, October 16\, 2026 \n3:00 – 4:00 pm\nJordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU \nJoin Ariana Maki from the University of Idaho for an art historian’s perspective on select works in the current exhibitions\, including The Mirror that Nature Holds: From the Collections of Jordan Schnitzer and His Family Foundation. Open discussion among tour participants will be encouraged throughout the tour and will be facilitated by Dr. Maki and museum staff. \nCommunity Perspectives Talks & Tours invite individuals from our campus and wider community to speak about their unique interpretation of several works in the current exhibitions\, charting connections among art\, personal experience\, and different disciplines. \nAbout the Speaker | Ariana Maki is an art historian and occasional curator\, and recently joined the University of Idaho as assistant professor in the Art & Design department. While Ariana teaches global art and architecture\, her research focuses on the material and visual cultures of South Asia\, with particular expertise in the Himalaya. She is a two-time Fulbright U.S. Scholar to Bhutan and was awarded an NEH-Mellon Fellowship for Life of the Buddha\, one of her digital humanities projects.
