SUMMARY:2026 | Mimi Jung: Artist Talk and Reception
DESCRIPTION:An Artist Talk and Reception with Mimi Jung\nTuesday\, March 31 from 4:00 to 6:00pm\nJordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU \nOn Tuesday\, March 31 at 4:00 pm\, artist Mimi Jung will offer a public talk in the museum in reference to the exhibition Mimi Jung: An Unfinished Origin. Jung’s work expresses a deep interest in identity\, transformation\, and the spaces between what is known and unknown. Using a loom-based practice and unconventional materials such as paper\, foam\, and cast metal\, she creates woven sculptural forms that appear unfinished or in flux\, inviting close\, reflective viewing. These evolving structures mirror the way personal narratives shift over time within larger cultural contexts. \nAfter the talk\, guests are invited to a reception in the galleries\, offering time to engage more deeply with Jung’s work and connect with the artist in an informal setting. Light refreshments will be served. This program is free and open to the public. \nAbout the Artist\nMimi Jung received a BFA from Cooper Union and attended Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst Basel and Städelschule for postgraduate studies. She has mounted exhibitions throughout the United States\, including Missoula Art Museum\, Nina Johnson Gallery in Miami and Harper’s Gallery in New York. Her work has also been exhibited at Les Gens Heureux in Copenhagen\, KIAF in Seoul\, Zonamaco in Mexico City\, Somerset House and Cadogan Gallery in London\, and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne. \nOrganized by the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. Funding for this exhibition is provided by the Samuel H. and Patricia W. Smith Endowment and friends of the museum. \nLocation\nThe Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU is located in the Crimson Cube (on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium and the CUB) on the WSU Pullman campus. Hourly parking is available in the Smith Center Garage off Stadium Way and most Green lots on campus are free after 5pm and on weekends. For more information please see the museum’s Visit page.

SUMMARY:Poems and Visual Arts of the Plant Companion Field Guide
DESCRIPTION:Poems and Visual Arts of the Plant Companion Field Guide\nThursday\, April 23\, 4:00-5:00pm\nJordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU \nThis event celebrates the work of several artists who played a role in creating Plant Companion Field Guide: A New(Old) Way to Know the Plants of the Palouse. In this durable book\, Linda Russo’s poems and essayettes for five Indigenous Palouse Prairie plants are presented alongside botanical portraits by Cori Dantini. Emphasizing companionship between humans and plants throughout time and place\, Plant Companion asks: How can getting to know plants take part in transforming relationships to the land we inhabit\, the traditional homelands of the Nimíipuu and Pelúuc\, and to each other? Can we together remember and image future lineages of earth-honoring practices of interspecies kinship\, reciprocity\, and care? \nThe event will feature a short poetry reading\, Shalla Newman’s printed broadsides framed by David Herbold\, and a preview of copies of Plant Companion Field Guide\, designed by Krista Brand. Free and open to the public. \nPlant Companion Field Guide is funded by the 2025–26 David G. Pollart Center for Arts and Humanities Faculty Fellowship. \nLocation & Parking\nThe Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art WSU is located in the Crimson Cube (on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium and the CUB) on the WSU Pullman campus. Hourly parking is available in the Smith Center Garage off Stadium Way and most Green lots on campus are free after 5pm and on weekends. For more information please see the museum’s Visit page.
