SUMMARY:2013 Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:The Washington State University Museum of Art is excited to share the talents of MFA graduate candidates in our upcoming Master of Fine Arts Thesis Exhibition\, April 5 – May 4. There will be an opening reception Friday\, April 5\, 6 p.m. in the Museum of Art/WSU Gallery. Admission to the museum is always free. \nThe exhibition is organized by late Museum of Art curator\, Keith Wells. Wells said\, “This exhibition provides a wide range of styles and stimulating experiences for faculty\, students and local museum constituents. The world class faculty at WSU encourage the MFA candidates to become more confident and articulate in their convictions. We\, at the Museum of Art/WSU\, confidently present this year’s graduate thesis work in hopes that undergraduate students\, first year graduate students and anyone willing to be moved by art while spending time at WSU will find it a fun and stimulating experience.” \nTo learn more about the art of the 2013 Master of Fine Arts candidates: Meghan Flynn\, Meghan Hedley\, Catherine Jensen\, Jennifer Saracino\, Lisa Soranaka\, Austin Stiegemeier\, please visit the museum website at museum.wsu.edu. \nThe Museum of Art is committed to the idea that a museum has a responsibility to recognize the creative talent of its region. Chris Bruce\, Director of the museum adds\, “Exposing our audience to the culmination of two or more years work from our graduate candidates enriches the community life of Washington State University by providing meaningful encounters with creativity and innovation. Our over-arching goal is to create life-long learners who can seek out divergent opinions\, examine complex issues from a variety of perspectives and find meaning in the world.” \nThe Museum of Art is located on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium in the Fine Arts Center on the WSU Pullman campus. Gallery hours are Monday – Saturday\, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.\, open until 7 p.m. on Thursdays and closed on Sundays. For more information please contact the museum at (509) 335-1910.

SUMMARY:Museum of Art Campus Wide Art Reception
DESCRIPTION:MUSEUM OF ART CAMPUS WIDE RECEPTION: Ceramics From the Kolva-Sullivan Collection \nTo start off 2013\, The Museum of Art/WSU is thrilled to present Ceramics From the Kolva-Sullivan Collection\, Jan. 7 – March 30\, 2013. We are having an opening reception for the Pullman campus today from 3-5 p.m. in the Museum of Art Gallery. As always\, all exhibitions at the Museum are free and open to the public. \nThe Jim Kolva and Pat Sullivan collection is a comprehensive sampling of NW ceramic artists. Having owned and operated a Gallery in Spokane WA for many years\, the two have built a proverbial “who’s who” collection of northwest ceramic art. The Kolva – Sullivan Gallery\, housed in a great industrial warehouse space\, along with their “Soho style” loft residence has presented many exhibits that include a ceramics emphasis and new work by emerging artists. \nMany of these artists are alumni of the Archie Bray Foundation. The Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts is an educational institution located near Helena\, Mont. Some of the best ceramic artists working in the US today have graduated from the creative experience offered at Archie Bray. This exhibit will provide yet another dimension of the artistic treasures the Northwest has to offer. \nThe Museum of Art is located on Wilson Road across from Martin Stadium in the Fine Arts Center on the WSU Pullman campus. Gallery hours are Monday – Saturday\, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.\, open until 7 p.m. on Thursdays and closed on Sundays. For more information please contact the museum at (509) 335-1910 or visit our website at museum.wsu.edu.
